University of Houston
October 12, 2021
Mike Pedé, associate vice president for Alumni Relations at the University of Houston, enters his 12th year of service to the University of Houston Alumni Association (UHAA). In his role at UHAA, he is the lead administrator for UH’s alumni relations program and aims to relevantly engage the University’s more than 300,000 alumni.
In addition to the leadership he brings to the UHAA team, Mike is actively involved in the alumni relations profession. For example, three years ago he became both the founding chair of the Alumni Council of Executives for the American Athletic Conference and a board member of the Council for Alumni Association of Executives. Previously, he chaired the 2017 CASE (Council for the Advancement and Support of Education) IV Conference, and served as programming chair for the 2014 CASE IV Conference held in Houston. Mike has also served as a member of the global CASE Commission on Alumni Relations, and is a past board member of the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators.
At the local level, Mike serves on a variety of committees that include the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. He has also contributed as a Houston-based committee member for the NCAA Houston Final Four, the NFL Super Bowl and Greater Houston Basketball. Recently, he was named to the board of the Art Colony Association in Houston.
Earlier in his career (from 1986 to 1993), Mike worked in several capacities within the UH Athletics department, including director of marketing, before beginning his 13-year stint as associate athletic director at Rice University. In 2006, Mike went into business for himself for three years – running an event marketing and sponsorship consulting firm and a minor league baseball team. He then joined Live Nation in Houston as vice president of the North American Music Division. He returned to his “professional roots” with his alma mater in 2010, where he serves today.
A 1989 graduate of Hilton College, Mike and his wife, fellow UH graduate Melanie Stinson Pede (’91), are UHAA Life Members and the proud parents of daughters Kelsey (’17) and Krista (’21). In his spare time, he enjoys spending quality time with his family, golf and travel.
