Appointment Types

Under development; please check back later this week (8/3-8/7)!

Health Professions Advising at UH works with currently enrolled UH students, providing guidance with the professional school preparation and application process.

In order for students to be well-prepared, students follow this sequence for appointments with us:

  • Foundations Appointment: This appointment is designed to cover general information about your chosen health profession that will serve as your fundamental first step with our office. In addition to website review, it includes an informational quiz (not for a grade, just to get you onboarded!). While you sign up for an "appointment time", you can do the appointment at your convenience using the quiz link in your confirmation email. Once you have completed the quiz, you will receive another email inviting you to make a group appointment. Details about how this appointment works will be included in your appointment confirmation.
  • Second Appointment (group):  This appointment is a group appointment, with several students who are interested in the same health profession as you. This is a chance for you to ask questions about the general information you have reviewed, and more specific questions about becoming a competitive applicant or other relevant questions. Once you have attended a group appointment, you are eligible for individual appointments. Many students don't need individual appointments until their second year at UH.
  • Individual Appointments: These are available for students who have completed both first and second appointments with our office, and are for specific and individualized questions.

Health Professions Advising also offers GPA Calculation Appointments for students to help them determine their GPAs for health professions programs applications. Since GPAs are calculated differently for different application services and include all graded college coursework, it can be confusing- we are here to help!
