DELPS Doctoral Student Anthony Livecchi Appointed Principal of Oak Ridge High School Ninth-Grade Campus

Anthony LivecchiEd.D. in Professional Leadership student Anthony Livecchi has been appointed principal of Oak Ridge High School Ninth-Grade Campus in the Conroe Independent School District (CISD).  The position requires Livecchi to lead a ninth grade campus as part of a whole school program in conjunction with the Senior High Campus.  The campus includes about 1,100 students, and 70 staff.

Livecchi explains that as principal he will be responsible for managing the school program for all freshman students.  “As ninth-graders enter the high school landscape, so much is new to them - credits, changing social pressures, increased academic rigor, the list goes on,” he said.  “My plan is to create a welcoming and safe environment for all students to engage in and grow into successful high school students and eventually successful adult citizens.”

Livecchi is honored to be chosen for this position.  When he first started teaching he knew he wanted to be a principal and is excited about this opportunity to continue to grow and learn.  “My ability to impact students and teachers in a positive way continues to grow and I am humbled that Conroe ISD leadership and our school board chose me to take on this new role,” he said.

When asked what College of Education (COE) professors inspired him the most, Livecchi mentioned Department of Educational Leadership & Policy Studies (DELPS) assistant professor, Virginia Rangel and DELPS chair, Anthony Rolle.  “Both have believed in me and encouraged me to pursue my academic interests while balancing my professional responsibilities,” he said.  “I feel truly blessed to be around educators who get it and want to do as much as they can to help me be successful.”

"Anthony (AJ) Livecchi is an excellent student and a pleasure to work with. He has an incredible work ethic and a sharp intellect,” said Rangel. “He asks excellent questions and proposes thoughtful solutions. He has been and will continue to be an asset to the DELPS department, and his new school will benefit greatly from his leadership."

“Anthony Livecchi is the type of student that professors desire: intelligent, inquisitive, and ready for challenges,” said Rolle. “No doubt his hard work – both academically and professionally – prepared him well for this challenge. I look forward to his future successes.”
