University of Houston Welcomes Dr. Robert Stagni as Executive Director of the Student Centers

HOUSTON, TX – October 22, 2025 – The University of Houston Division of Student Affairs is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Robert (Rob) Stagni as the new executive director of the Student Centers, effective November 1, 2025. 

Dr. Stagni joins UH from the University of Arkansas, where he has served as Director of the Arkansas Union since 2014. With two decades of experience in higher education, Dr. Stagni brings a wealth of expertise in student development, facility management, leadership, and organizational strategy to his new role. 

During his tenure at the University of Arkansas, Dr. Stagni provided vision and oversight for a comprehensive student union operation, managing a team of professional and student staff, overseeing major facility renovations, and strengthening campus partnerships that enhanced the student experience. He has also been an engaged leader within the Association of College Unions International (ACUI), currently serving on its Board of Trustees, and previously as Region II Director and Regional Conference Chair, demonstrating a deep commitment to advancing the profession of college union and student center management.

 Expressing his enthusiasm about joining UH, Dr. Stagni shared: 

“I am overjoyed to join the University of Houston and lead the Student Centers team. The Student Centers play such a key role in campus life- providing spaces where students can connect, get involved, and feel at home. I look forward to working alongside our dedicated staff, the Division of Student Affairs, and campus partners to enhance the student experience and continue making the Student Centers a welcoming, vibrant part of the UH community.” 

As Executive Director, Dr. Stagni will provide leadership and strategic direction for Student Center North and Student Center South, ensuring operational excellence and fostering programs and services that promote connection, belonging, and Cougar pride. He will oversee facility operations, student employment initiatives, and collaborative partnerships that support student learning and engagement beyond the classroom. 

Dr. Stagni earned his Doctor of Education in Higher Education from the University of Arkansas, a Master of Science in Higher Education and Student Affairs from Indiana University, and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Texas A&M University. He has been recognized with numerous awards for leadership and professional excellence, including the ACUI William H. Smith Outstanding Professional Award and the University of Arkansas Division of Student Affairs Robinson Fellowship.
