The Division of Student Affairs is proud to recognize Cecilia Sun as the October 2025
Golden Paw Employee of the Month. As Assistant Director for training, Counseling and
Psychological Services (CAPS), Cecilia’s exceptional organization, professionalism,
and collaborative spirit have made a lasting impact on the department and the students
it serves.
Beyond her regular responsibilities, Cecilia has chaired all of CAPS’ search committees to hire new clinicians—a critical role that ensures the continued excellence of mental health services on campus. Over the past month alone, she coordinated six interviews for mobile crisis counselor candidates, expertly navigating the demanding schedules of four administrators. Cecilia also organized college visits to maintain confidentiality for three incoming embedded counselor positions, scheduling interviews across departments with precision and care.
Her ability to balance multiple priorities, communicate clearly, and maintain momentum through complex hiring processes is nothing short of remarkable. This month, she successfully completed the hire of a new clinician who will join the CAPS team next month, further strengthening the university’s mental health support network.
Cecilia’s consistent follow-through and proactive approach set a high standard for excellence. Her impeccable communication with HR, candidates, and the six participating departments ensures a smooth and professional experience for everyone involved. She approaches every task with grace, patience, and determination—qualities that make her a trusted colleague and invaluable asset to the UH community.
“Cecilia’s ability to juggle competing priorities while maintaining clear communication and professionalism is nothing short of awesome. This past month, she really wowed me!” — Marti Trummer-Cabrera, CAPS Outreach
Cecilia’s work exemplifies the Division’s core values of collaboration, excellence, and student success. Her efforts not only strengthen CAPS but also ensure that UH continues to provide compassionate, high-quality support for students, faculty, and staff alike.
Congratulations, Cecilia Sun, on this well-deserved recognition!
