The Division of Student Affairs at the University of Houston is proud and excited to announce the appointment of Ashley Simmons Coffey as the new director of the International Student and Scholar Services Office (ISSSO).
Coffey will oversee international student and scholar counselors, compliance coordinators, appointments, and programming. Her vision will strengthen the University’s commitment to creating a globally connected and culturally rich campus.

Known for her student- and faculty-centered approach, Coffey emphasizes collaboration and is widely respected for fostering global connections while creating programs that integrate international students into the campus and local communities.
Coffey comes to UH with extensive experience in international education and campus internationalization. She holds a Graduate Certificate in International Education from the University of Kentucky, a Master of Arts in International Relations from Syracuse University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science from Tougaloo College.
She most recently served as director of Campus Internationalization, PDSO & RO at Flagler College in Saint Augustine, Florida. Coffey’s rich academic background, combined with her passion for international education, positions her as an exceptional leader.
