UH Carpool Program

Parking and Transportation Services is now offering discounted permits and guaranteed parking spaces to Cougars who commute to campus with two or more individuals in their vehicle. Part of the new COAST program, this incentive is open to all faculty, staff and full-time students who carpool at least three days a week.

Additional information:

  • To participate and receive all carpooling benefits, all members of your carpool must register.
  • If you've already purchased a parking permit and want to carpool instead, you can return your permit for a full refund and join a carpool.
  • If you lose a member: notify PTS within 48 hrs and replace within 10 days
  • Each member will receive 12, full-day parking vouchers a year, for use should an emergency or scheduling conflict arise. The vouchers are valid for the visitor section of a garage.

Student Q-Cards

Students with a student Q-Card receive 50% off METRO fares! METRO Q-Cards are reloadable cards used to pay fares on METRO buses and METRORAIL. You can complete the application form at the Welcome Center Parking Services Desk and will receive your Q-Card typically within 2 weeks. You can also reload your METRO Q-Card at the Welcome Center Parking Services Desk. To learn more about the Q-Card, go to METRO's website and click on the Fare Information tab.

COAST (Coogs on Alternative and Sustainable Transportation)

In an effort to better serve UH’s ever-growing campus and community, Parking and Transportation Services now offers eligible faculty, staff and students the opportunity to join COAST (Coogs on Alternative and Sustainable Transportation), a new incentive program for individuals who carpool or utilize alternative and sustainable options, such as METRO to get to campus.

Bicycles

Bicycle racks are scattered throughout the campus for students to lock their bike while in class or other activities. It is recommended that all bikes be registered with the UH Department of Public Safety. Learn how to register your bicycle on campus.
