TRIP Matching
"Texas Research Incentive Program” (TRIP) is a state appropriated matching fund for the seven Texas emerging research universities (although UH is already considered a tier one university). TRIP matches cash research gifts of $100,000 up to $10 million. With this scalable matching fund, $100,000 to less than $1.0 million will receive 50% match, $1.0 million up to $2.0 million receives 75%, and $2.0 million to $10 million receives 100% in matching funds. Any cash gifts for the purpose of supporting research, such as endowed chairs or endowed professors, graduate fellowships, direct funding of research activity, naming of research facilities and/or acquisition of equipment, etc. are eligible for matching.
TCHRC leveraged TRIP matching and has stimulated a few new research projects to move toward a new horizon. These projects involve, 1) expanding children’s services at our sliding scale psychology clinic using materials developed from the research of Drs. Candice Alfano and Carla Sharp to provide lower cost intervention to qualifying families, 2) supporting the operation of a sliding scale assessment clinic for the second year graduate students training supervised by Drs. Jack Fletcher and Jennifer Tackett, and 3) facilitating recruitment of underrepresented students into psychology graduate programs.
