Academic Advising

While the University of Houston has taken precautionary measures in response to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak, the Valenti undergraduate advising office is continuing academic advising by offering online/remote appointments through e-mail. Students can schedule an online/remote advising appointments through the Navigate app or email advising questions (e.g. major or minor planning, summer/fall enrollment, academic probation advising or review of degree requirements) to their major advisors.
 
Finally, walk-in appointments are discontinued until further notice. All appointments can be scheduled via Navigate.

Our advisors are committed to helping get the most out of your education. Each student is assigned an advisor upon enrolling at the Valenti School.

  • Current Students

    I need to meet with an advisor. What do I do?
    You can schedule your appointment through your myUH account. Appointments cannot be scheduled by advisors or staff at the front desk.

    For a brief advising session, you might also choose to attend a Walk-in Wednesday session.

    When does the advising schedule open?

    The advising schedule generally opens for appointments every Friday at 9:00 AM. We open one week of appointments at a time. Please keep an eye on appointment availability throughout the week.

    Which advisor do I schedule an appointment with?

    Please advising appointment with your primary advisor. To see your primary advisor, visit your myUH account.

    Available slots are shown in blue hyperlink on Advisors’ calendars. Check your email for confirmation of your appointment once you've scheduled it.

    I scheduled an advising appointment but can't remember for when. How do I find out?

    You can view your scheduled appointment online. After logging into myUH, visit UH Self Service > Advising > View My Appointments

    As an intending COMM student, how do I get an appointment?

    1. Login via CougarNet or PeopleSoft > UH Self Service (gold icon) > Advising > Appointment With Advisor > click tab for Appointment with Other Advisor
