Q: Do you accept applications for spring admission?

A: No, applications are accepted for fall admission only. The deadline to apply is Dec. 15 of the year prior to when you wish to start the program.

Q: How do I set up an interview with a prospective mentor?

A: Please review our Faculty Research page to learn more about the COMD faculty and their research interests. Once you have identified a professor who shares your interests, contact them to set up a meeting or call.

Q: How long does it take to complete the Ph.D. program?

A: We estimate it will take four years to complete the program for full-time students. This may vary by student.

Q: Can I continue to work while I complete the Ph.D. program?

A: We offer a part-time enrollment option that may allow students to continue working while they complete the program.

Q: Can I transfer credits from another program?

A: In accordance with UH policies, up to nine credits of graduate coursework may be transferred from other accredited institutions and counted towards the minimum hours required to complete the program, but these must be approved by the doctoral committee, UH COMD department chair and the University of Houston.
