NSSLHA

The National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLAH) serves pre-professionals
in all communication sciences and disorders fields, having both national membership
and local chapters. The local University of Houston NSSLHA chapter is a stellar example
of student leadership and involvement for future audiologists, speech language pathologists,
and speech language pathology assistants.
UH NSSLHA members participate in many activities which support their community engagement,
professional knowledge, and personal growth. Our UH NSSLHA chapter is active in volunteerism
throughout Houston. Generally the organization participates in at least two charitable
activities per month with adults and children who have communication needs. Their
outreach is inspiring. NSSLHA members also expand their understanding of the fields
of communication disorders by attending state and national conferences and participation
in action awareness days such as Texas Speech Language Hearing Association’s Day at
the Capital. Additionally, NSSLHA students grow as individuals by networking with
each other and different student organizations, holding leadership positions, and,
of course, attending social events.
