Multicultural Student Services Task Force
In the summer of 2013, the Multicultural Student Services Task Force was charged with identifying the feasibility of creating a new department/center that focuses on addressing the needs of the diverse University of Houston student population. CDI Learning Outcomes
The Center for Diversity and Inclusion provides workshops, programs, student leadership opportunities, and brave space environments to promote cross-cultural communication and culturally-responsive practices that help diverse communities connect.
By serving in a student leader role within CDI, students will be able to articulate beliefs and exhibit behaviors that cultivate teamwork, critical thought, and communication skills needed to function in a diverse workforce and global community.
The cultural competencies gained through workshops, programs, and intercultural development coaching sessions provided by CDI, promotes a learning environment where UH constituents are better equipped to understand multiple perspectives, practices, and promote a culture of inclusion.
Advocate for Students
Our staff is dedicated to serving the University of Houston student body with Tier One customer service. Through programs, services, and informal advising we advocate for and support the success of, ALL students.
Computer Lounge, Study and Meeting Space
Our Center, located in the University Center South B12, provides a safe and comfortable learning environment for students to study, engage in intercultural dialogue, and enhance their leadership abilities. Request to use the CDI space for your group via Microsoft Form.
Diversity Education Workshops & Programs
The Center offers diversity-related training and seminars to help students become active citizens who are able to identify and work within the needs, strengths, and challenges of a diverse environment.
The Center for Diversity and Inclusion will provide a library of diversity-related resources (e.g. books, movies, articles, training materials) to help borrowers increase their understanding of important historical and currently relevant topics that relate to diversity, inclusion, and social justice.
The Center for Diversity and Inclusion partners with other campus student organizations and departments to increase outreach and showcase various aspects of diversity.
