2320 Introduction to Public Health 3(3-0) Overview of critical issues in the field of public health and health promotion as well as concepts of health and health education, an overview of critical issues in the field of health promotion and contributions of health care professionals in a variety of settings. Prerequisites: HLT 1353 and 6 credit hours of Life & Physical Sciences

3301 Health Behavior Theories: Concepts and Applications 3(3-0) The structure, content, and application of theories of health behavior change. Prerequisites: HLT 2320 and 3 credit hours of WID, or consent of instructor.
3303 Health of the Elementary Child 3(3-9) Field-based course that focuses on health status, needs, and interests of elementary age children with implications for health education. Prerequisites: Junior standing or consent of instructor
3304 Adolescent Health Issues 3(3-0) Health status, needs, and the risks associated with the adolescence with implications for health education. Prerequisites: HLT 2320 and junior standing, or consent from instructor.
3330 Asian American Health Issues 3(3-0) Examination of factors influencing health problems, medical practices, and use of health services within Asian American communities.
3306 Environmental Health 3(3-0) Principles of environmental health, issues related to environmental diseases, and investigation of the mobilization of the public and official, voluntary health agencies to minimize such societal problems. Prerequisites: HLT 2320 and Junior standing.
3380 Culture and Health 3(3-0) Examine the relationship between cultural variables and health/healthcare delivery. Prerequisites: Junior standing or consent of instructor.
3381 Health Promotion and Disease Prevention 3(3-0) An overview of theories and strategies in health education for prevention and control of common diseases and promoting health. Prerequisite: Junior standing and six semester hours biology or consent of instructor.
4302 Health Aspects of Human Sexuality 3(3-0) Physical, mental and social health issues associated with sexual practices. Examination of school, family, and community roles in addressing these issues. Prerequisites: Junior standing,  HLT 1353 and PSYC 1300 or consent of instructor.
4303 The Obesity Epidemic 3(3-0) Public health, policy, and environmental correlates of obesity prevention and control in the U.S. Prerequisite: Junior standing.
4306 Women's Health Issues 3(3-0) Examination of factors influencing women's health. Emphasis is on the biological, socio-cultural and behavioral factors prompting need for special attention to the health of women. Prerequisites: Junior standing
4307 Measurement Techniques in Health 3(3-0) Quantitative methods in the construction and utilization of instruments used by health educators. Prerequisites: HLT 3301 and six additional semester hours of health education courses.
4308 Understanding Cancer 3(3-0) Exploration of cancer prevention, control and the impact on individuals, families and the community. Prerequisite: Junior standing and six semester hours of natural science or consent of instructor.
4309 Health Disparities 3(3-0) Social and societal factors fundamental in creating disparities in health. Formulation of public policy objectives to reduce and ultimately eliminate health disparities.
4310 Program Planning for the Health Professions 3(3-0) Development, implementation, and evaluation of health programs and interventions. Prerequisitse: HLT 2320, HLT 3301, HLT 3381 and HLT 4307 or consent of instructor.
4317 Foundations of Epidemiology in Public Health 3(3-0) Basic concepts of epidemiology and biostatistics as applied to public health issues. Prerequisites: HLT 2320 and six additional semester hours of health education courses.
4320 Administration of Health Services 3(3-0) Basic characteristics of the U.S. healthcare system and health services delivery. Prerequisites: Junior standing or consent of instructor.
4392 Field Work in Community Health 3(3-0) Observation and supervised field work in official and/or voluntary health agencies. Prerequisite: HLT 4310. If junior standing, then instructor approval required.
4393 Field Work in Community Health 3(3-0) Observation and supervised field work in official and/or voluntary health agencies. Prerequisite: Senior standing or consent of instructor.
4397 Selected Topics in Health 1-3 per semester May be repeated for credit when topics vary. Prerequisite: Junior standing.
