Affiliated Groups and Programs
Our department offers a variety of opportunities for research in areas within and closely related to philosophy. Groups and programs in which various faculty members participate, and which may be of interest to prospective students, include:
The Ethics in Science program aims to develop a new, practicum-based, science ethics training program, which will be particularly appropriate for the diverse, practically oriented, student population at the University of Houston. This project is funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF).
The Houston Circle for the Study of Early Modern Philosophy, involving faculty members and graduate students from both the University of Houston and Rice University.
Phronesis: A Program in Politics and Ethics, an interdisciplinary minor housed in the UH Honors College, and involving faculty in Philosophy, Classical Studies and Political Science.
The Women's Studies Program, which allows graduate students to pursue a graduate certificate in Women's Studies.
Some of our faculty members also host web pages of special interest:
- Leibnitiana (a site on Leibniz's life and philosophy, including the Leibniz Society of North America Newsletter)
