THE HIVE is our knowledge community and discussion group. Historically, the WGRC has hosted Book Clubs, but as we expanded to new media, we took on a new name! THE HIVE will explore:
- Books (and book chapters)
- Videos
- Scholarly articles
- TV episodes
- Podcasts
- Movies
- Short stories
- And more
This Summer, the HIVE is back!
We are partnering with UH Libraries to read the Pulitzer Prize winning memoir, Liliana's Invincible Summer by Cristina Rivera Garza, an M.D. Anderson Distinguished Professor in Hispanic Studies and director of the Ph.D. program in creative writing in Spanish at the University of Houston. To join us, sign up on the "Join the HIVE" button above.
Summer 2024 HIVE Dates:
Houston Public Library If you do not already have a MY Link card, apply here. A Houston Public Library membership is available to all UH students, faculty, and staff (even if you live outside of Houston). Your HPL membership will give you access to Hoopla and Libby, two services that provide eBooks, audiobooks, films, and more.
Kanopy is a free resource for documentaries and classic films. You can access Kanopy through your UH account.
CoogTV If you are living on campus this summer, CoogTV provides access to tons of free movies.
YouTube Because it's free, we're going to try and find as many video clips as possible on YouTube!
We may also pull from sites that have a fee such as Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime, but each week will also have free suggestions.
