  UH Alumnus and Business Leader Jack B. Moore Named Chairman of the UH System Board of Regents

  University of Houston alumnus and Houston business leader Jack B. Moore has been appointed chairman of the UH System Board of Regents, succeeding Tilman J. Fertitta. Moore, a regent since 2018 and former CEO of Cameron International, said he is honored to build on the System’s momentum in student success, research and community impact. Joining him in leadership are Ricky Raven as vice chairman and Gregory C. King as secretary.

  Christina H. Gola Named Dean of UH Libraries

  After more than 16 years of service, Christina H. Gola has been appointed dean of UH Libraries, effective Sept. 1. A third-generation librarian and former interim dean, Gola has led efforts to expand study spaces, strengthen collections, and modernize technologies. She now steps into permanent leadership to advance the Libraries’ role in student success, research excellence, and community impact.

  UH Researchers Unveil Breakthrough in Carbon Capture

  A team led by UH engineering professor Mim Rahimi has developed two innovations that could lower the cost of reducing harmful emissions from power plants. One eliminates costly membranes in carbon capture systems, cutting energy use and boosting efficiency, while the other combines carbon capture with renewable energy storage. Together, the discoveries mark a major step toward combating climate change and advancing a low-carbon economy.
