In the state of Texas, all pre-Medical and pre-Dental applicants are expected to have components of their application materials reviewed by a Health Professions Advisory Committee (HPAC) just prior to applying to medical and dental school and a Committee Letter of Evaluation included in their application.
At the University of Houston, HPAC consists of 18 University of Houston faculty and staff from across campus.
The HPAC application review cycle begins during the Spring semester of each academic year and runs into early Summer.
After review, HPAC provides an official Committee Letter of Evaluation for each pre-Medical and pre-Dental applicant. This letter is submitted along with the applicant's other Letters of Evaluation to the associated medical and dental application services (i.e., TMDSAS, AMCAS, AACOMAS, and AADSAS).
