Through hands-on experiences in ambulatory care and active involvement in student organizations, Romafou Bates has grown from a self-described introvert into a recognized leader among his peers. As he prepares to pursue residency training, he remains committed to advancing patient-centered care and building a future where pharmacists play a vital role in health care decision-making.

Pharm.D. student Rebeca Pelayo Carvajal is helping close critical language gaps in patient care. Through Spanish-language counseling, leadership across multiple student organizations and a passion for improving outcomes in Hispanic communities, she is using pharmacy as a powerful tool for advocacy, access and impact.

Ph.D. candidate Sana Sharif has been working under Xinli Liu, Ph.D., associate professor of pharmaceutics, researching nano-formulations for breast cancer treatment and exploring ways to improve tolerance and reduce side effects while improving therapeutic effectiveness.
