UH Parking’s Commitment to Excellence Recognized Nationally
The University of Houston Parking and Transportation Services has reached a major milestone, earning the Accredited Parking Organization (APO) with Distinction designation from the International Parking and Mobility Institute (IPMI). This elite recognition places UH among the most respected parking, transportation, and mobility organizations in the nation.
The honor comes just one year after the department first achieved APO accreditation, making this advancement even more significant.
What is APO with Distinction?
The APO program is the industry’s highest standard for excellence in parking and transportation management. It recognizes organizations that consistently uphold best practices in areas such as:
-
Customer service
-
Sustainability and access management
-
Professional development
-
Safety, risk management, and data security
-
Operational excellence and innovation
To receive APO accreditation, an organization must demonstrate adherence to over 100 criteria across 14 categories, including 25 mandatory requirements. A thorough review by third-party evaluators is part of the process to ensure accountability and integrity.
Achieving the APO with Distinction designation requires an even higher level of excellence. Organizations must meet more than 60 additional advanced and progressive best practices, demonstrating a strong commitment to continuous improvement and innovation. Both levels of recognition also require that at least one facility undergoes and passes a detailed site evaluation.
Spotlight at National Conference
UH Parking and Transportation Services will be officially honored at the 2025 IPMI Parking & Mobility Conference and Expo, scheduled for June 8–10, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky.
“Earning the APO with Distinction designation is a reflection of our team’s deep commitment to excellence, innovation, and service,” said Neil Hart, assistant vice president of Parking and Transportation Services. “It demonstrates our dedication to creating a safe, accessible, and customer-focused parking experience for the entire UH community.”
This achievement reflects the department’s dedication to service, sustainability, and innovation — and positions UH as a national leader in parking and mobility.
