The Crisis of Public School Funding Spotlighted in Daylong Workshop at UH

The University of Houston College of Education and its Education Alumni Association welcome a hard-hitting panel of experts to discuss the state of public education funding. 

The 2012 Action Alliance Workshop and Luncheon is planned from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 15 in the Hilton University of Houston Hotel.  Events are planned in the Shamrock room and the Waldorf Astoria Ballroom.

Included in the program to discuss “The Public Education Funding Crisis” are:

  • Orvin Kimbrough, senior vice president of development, United Way of Greater St. Louis
  • Steve Murdock, Professor of Sociology, Rice University
  • Francis Deviney, director, Texas KIDS COUNT

 

Joining them after lunch will be Philip D. Fraissinet, a partner in Thompson and Horton LLP; State Rep. Scott Hochberg; Tracy Hoke, chief financial officer, Fort Bend Independent School District; Richard Murray, UH professor of political science; and Thomas Randall, superintendent, Lamar Consolidated Independent School District.
