Honors Arts Evening
Martin Cominsky and Sean Gorman, both Honors alumni on the Honors College Advisory Board, sponsored the first Honors Arts Evening to see the Houston Grand Opera perform Intelligence at the Wortham Theatre. The HGO-commissioned world-premiere opera Intelligence is inspired by the little-known true story of two unlikely spies: Elizabeth Van Lew, from a prominent Confederate family and Mary Jane Bowser, born into slavery.
Honors College Dean Appel accompanied the group of 14 students who signed up for free on a first-come, first -served basis for the show and dinner. A second Honors Arts Evening is being planned for the spring 2024 semester. Keep watch for upcoming details on the Honors social media, website and College Listserv.
