Sara V. Press, PhD is the Director of Medicine & Society in the Honors College at
the University of Houston. Prior to this position, she held Postdoctoral Fellowships
in Emory University’s Department of English and in Harvard University’s Department
of the History of Science. She completed her SSHRC-funded PhD in English Literature
and Science and Technology Studies at the University of British Columbia.
Her work sits at the intersection of Rhetoric of Health and Medicine, History of Medicine,
Science and Technology Studies, Postcolonial Theory, and Literary Theory. Her research
examines health inequalities based on race and gender in North American society through
rhetorical, historical, and literary approaches. Her work has been published or is
forthcoming in Literature and Medicine, The Routledge Handbook of Rhetoric of Health and Medicine, History of Pharmacy and Pharmaceuticals, Rhetoric of Health and Medicine, Humanities, and Synapsis.
