Professor Alison Leland is a law and politics professor and teaches a course on the death penalty in the Honors College at the University of Houston. She mentors students, leads an accelerated pre-law partnership with the UH Law Center and is the faculty advisor to both the Houston Undergraduate Law Review and the UH Pre-Law Society.

She serves as a trustee of the Menil Museum, (and says you should go!), on the board of the criminal justice legal organization the Texas Defenders Service and works with Leland internship programs through the Department of Energy, the Mickey Leland Kibbutzim Internship Foundation, and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

Professor Leland is a graduate of Spelman College and the Georgetown University Law Center and was recently awarded an honorary doctorate of Humane Letters from Texas Southern University.

The first phase of her career was spent in investment banking with a Wall Street firm prior to joining the University of Houston.
