The Honors and the Arts Program Series creates opportunities for Honors College students to attend city-wide exhibitions, performances, concerts, readings, and film screenings.

Fall 2013 HAPS Events

Featured event: Arts in Houston Lecture Series: Part II
"Houston: Opening Time for the Creative City" 

Entrepreneurs and innovators in the arts will discuss how to explore the dynamics of creativity, forging synergy between city and university, while envisioning groundbreaking exhibits and performances.

Dr. Daniel Price, Research Assistant Professor at The Honors College | Oct. 30, 5-7 p.m.

Dr. Price will discuss how creative work can engage with Houston and how to be creative in Houston, when all the "real art" is happening elsewhere. 

Price will also discuss the art scene in Houston, starting in the 1960s, but with an eye toward what could emerge from an open engagement with Houston, the creative city to come.

Future lecturers include Sixto Wagan, Director of the UH Center for Arts Leadership, and Rachel Cook, Assistant Curator at DiverseWorks.
