The Pre-Health Advising Center now offers Mock Interviews for University of Houston students who have been invited to interview with a health professional school.

The purpose of the mock interview is to allow you the opportunity to practice your responses, work on body-language and effictively communicating your ideas, and recieve feedback on your interview performance from a Health Professions Advisor.

Scheduling a Mock Interview

You may request a mock interview if you have an upcoming professional school interview for one of the health professional programs that our office serves: medical, dental, optometry, allied health (PA, PT, OT, etc.), and nursing. Because our goal is to provide these interviews on demand, we will ask that you provide proof of an interview invitation in order to schedule.  If you have not yet been invited for a professional school interview, you can still participate in mock interviews with University Career Services.

Our office requires a minimum of 5 business days notice to schedule a mock interview.  We may not be able to accommodate requests that do not have ample notice.

Mock interviews are scheduled for 45-mins (30 min. interview/15 min. feedback) and will remain virtual for Fall 2021. Our office offers two forms of interviews:

• Traditional One-on-One: Interviewer presents series of questions and prompts for discussion
• Mock Mini MMI: Interviewer presents 3 MMI stations. Each station will present a scenario or prompt for you to address in 8-mins.

To schedule:

1. Log into Navigate and select "Pre-Health Mock Interview" under Services.
2. In the Appointment Notes, include:
   • The type of program you are applying to (e.g., medical school, PA school)
   • The date of your upcoming interview
   • The name of the specific program with whom you are interviewing (e.g., UH College of Medicine)
   • The type of interview you wish to practice (traditional one-on-one or MMI)
   • Whether you wish conduct the interview virtually or in-person
3. Email proof of your interview invitation to prehealth@uh.edu (screenshots are allowed).
4. Prepare for your mock interview by reviewing the resources our office has provided.

After scheduling your mock interview, a Health Professions Advisor will email with additional details about how the interview will be conducted.

Please note that you are limited to one mock interview with our office per semester due to demand.

No-Show & Cancellation Policy

Due to high demand, if you no-show your scheduled mock interview, you will not be allowed to register for another date. If you are unable to attend and must cancel, please email prehealth@uh.edu no later than 24 hours prior to your scheduled interview.
