Health Professions Advisory Committee

Eligible Pre-Medical and pre-Dental applicants can have components of their application materials evaluated by a Health Professions Advisory Committee (HPAC) just prior to applying to medical and dental school. The UH HPAC committee consists of 18 University of Houston faculty and staff from across campus. Health Professions Advising strongly recommends that all eligible pre-Medical and pre-Dental applicants participate in HPAC to receive valuable feedback on their materials prior to application submission.

In addition to academic requirements, students who wish to participate in HPAC must attend an HPAC orientation, Personal Statement orientation, and Personal Statement workshop; these are offered primarily in the fall semester. The HPAC applications are submitted at the beginning of the spring semester. HPAC evaluations take place during the spring semester of each academic year and typically conclude by the end of May.

After evaluation, HPAC provides an official Committee Letter of Evaluation for each pre-Medical and pre-Dental applicant. This letter is submitted along with the applicant's other Letters of Evaluation to the associated medical and dental application services (i.e., TMDSAS, AMCAS, AACOMAS, AADSAS, and Interfolio upon request).
