Event Collaboration

Through the presentation of globally-focused programs, the Institute for Global Engagement enhances university efforts to educate, engage, and lead from a global perspective.

IGE collaborates with faculty and staff across campus, student cultural organizations, and Houston-area community groups to present events (lectures, performances, workshops, information sessions, panel discussions, etc.) with a global perspective at venues around the UH campus. In addition, we provide promotional services, assistance with program development, outreach to colleagues around campus, and partnerships to produce events or series of events that enhance faculty and colleges’ academic missions and illuminate links between disciplines, art forms, ideas, and scholarship.

IGE is developing and enhancing links with Houston-area community organizations as well to create joint programs with a city-wide reach, increase awareness of UH as a globally-focused university, and broaden the global knowledge, skills, and engagement of the UH community.

To collaborate or co-promote a globally-focused event, contact the Assistant Director of Global Events, Stacey Michael.

Funding assistance for global events is available to faculty and student groups through the following programs:

  • The Global Faculty Development fund offers funding to help cover the cost of travel and planning a program, partnership, learning abroad program, etc.
  • For faculty, staff and student groups, IGE offers the Multicultural Event Sponsorship for events with a “clear global, cross-cultural, or multicultural theme.”
