UNDERSTANDING DISCRIMINATION, RESILIENCE, AND HEALTH

In the Ethnicity, Culture, & Health Outcomes Lab, we work to understand how positive and negative aspects of daily life affect physical and mental health. We explore how identity-related stressors, particularly discrimination, impact racially diverse young people and their families in areas such as socioemotional well-being, academics, health behaviors, and more. The lab is directed by Assistant Professor Elizabeth Jelsma of the University of Houston College of Education. We also collaborate with faculty and staff at Michigan State University and University of Oklahoma.
