The Division of Student Affairs is excited to welcome Brandon A. Washington to the Dean of Students Office as our new assistant dean of students. Brandon officially joined the team on January 26, 2026, and will lead our Sexual Misconduct Support Services (SMSS), bringing a wealth of experience in advocacy, prevention, and response.
“I am thrilled to welcome Brandon to lead our Sexual Misconduct Support Services work for the university within the Dean of Students Office. His expertise in sexual assault response will help guide our prevention and support efforts,” said Dr. Sara Jahansouz Wray, associate dean of students, highlighting the impact Brandon is expected to make.
Brandon brings a unique blend of leadership, service, and dedication to student well-being. Originally from Hartsville, South Carolina, he served more than 20 years in the United States Army, retiring as a Master Sergeant. During his military career, he directed prevention education, crisis response, and victim advocacy programs as a Brigade Sexual Assault Response Coordinator, supporting thousands of Soldiers, civilians, and families worldwide.
At UH, Brandon oversees student conduct, case management, and behavioral intervention, ensuring that students impacted by sexual misconduct receive trauma-informed advocacy, coordinated care, and comprehensive support. Known for his calm leadership and ability to connect with people from all backgrounds, he approaches every interaction with empathy and respect.
Brandon holds a Master of Arts in Human Resource Management and a Bachelor of Arts in General Management. Outside of his professional work, he enjoys staying active through fitness and cherishes traveling and creating new experiences with his family.
