Cassandra Joseph Receives Multiple National Awards for Leadership in Greek Life

Cassandra Joseph, director of the Center for Fraternity and Sorority Life, received five national awards and recognitions in 2025 from the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) and the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors (AFA), honoring her exceptional leadership, service, and long-standing contributions to the fraternity and sorority community.

Among the honors was the Pinnacle Award of Excellence, presented to one individual from the NPHC National Board of Directors who has demonstrated extraordinary dedication and service beyond expectations. Joseph was also recognized with the Leadership and Excellence Award for her years of impactful service on the NPHC National Executive Board of Directors.

The National Pan-Hellenic Council, which represents the Divine Nine historically Black fraternities and sororities, is committed to leadership, scholarship, service, and civic engagement; values that Joseph has consistently championed throughout her career.

Joseph also received the Sue Kraft Fussell Distinguished Service Award, one of AFA’s highest honors. This award is presented annually to no more than five individuals who have demonstrated outstanding service and achievement within the fraternity and sorority profession and to the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors.

In addition, she was recognized by the AFA Foundation Leadership Circle, receiving a commemorative recognition brick for reaching the Leadership Circle giving level as part of the Cumulative Giving Society. The AFA Foundation supports the educational objectives of AFA through research, scholarships, and professional development initiatives that advance the fraternity and sorority advising profession.

“It was truly an honor to receive these awards and various recognitions. Knowing that others saw something in me was a very humbling experience. I will forever be grateful for the opportunity I had to serve on the NPHC National Executive Board of Directors and for my years as an active member of the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors,” said Joseph.

An accomplished professional with more than two decades of experience, Joseph has made a lasting impact on fraternity and sorority life at both the regional and national levels. As the NPHC National Collegiate Council Chair, she has developed and facilitated national webinars and trainings that strengthen undergraduate leadership and engagement. She is also a past Regional Director for Region IV of AFA. She has served on numerous AFA committees, including Awards and Recognition, Annual Meeting, Nominations and Elections, First Timers, and Membership and Marketing.

Joseph is a proud 25-year Silver Star and active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., where she continues her lifelong commitment to service and leadership.
