Scholarship for Excellence in Middle Eastern Studies ($450)

Each year, the Middle Eastern Studies Program awards multiple scholarships to recognize students who have demonstrated outstanding skill in Arabic language, as well as exemplary knowledge of, and continued interest in, the Middle East and its heritage. The goal of this scholarship is to support future academic study and professional endeavors in the field.

Eligibility requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in an Arabic language course
  • Preference will be given to students who have declared a minor in Arab Studies or a major or minor in World Cultures and Literatures (WCL), Middle Eastern Studies track.
  • Overall minimum GPA of 2.5

Arab Studies Global Initiative Scholarship (TBA)

Each year, the Middle Eastern Studies Program awards up to eight of these scholarships. The Arab Studies Global Initiative Scholarship is an award aimed specifically at supporting and recognizing students who are participating in summer study abroad in the Arab World.

Eligibility requirements

  • Must be have applied for and been accepted to a summer learning abroad program in an Arabic speaking country
  • Preference will be given to students who are participating in faculty-led learning abroad programs.
  • Overall minimum GPA of 2.5

  • Submit the completed application form. 
  • Submit a one page essay (in English).

Book Awards for Excellence in Middle Eastern Studies

Book Awards recognize students who excel in Middle Eastern Studies generally, and are offered on a discretionary basis.
