A week later, 250,000 Texans still faced the extreme summer heat without electricity or air conditioning, and at least three people tragically lost their lives due to heat exposure. This disaster spotlighted critical vulnerabilities in Houston’s largely above-ground power grid, leading to much analysis.

UH Engineering Professor Awarded $500,000 for Research into Improving Bridge Safety in Texas

An assistant professor at the University of Houston’s Cullen College of Engineering has received a three-year, $505,286 grant from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to advance research on digitizing bridges using robots, data and artificial intelligence (AI) and help solve complex problems related to highway bridge safety.
