AI Learning
Student AI Certification Course 1: Gemini
This asynchronous course will introduce you to Google's Gemini and show you how to leverage artificial intelligence throughout your studies at the University of Houston and beyond. You will transform generative AI from a chatbot into a strategic partner! In this hands-on course, you'll master advanced prompt engineering, tune audience tone and persuasion in communications, and construct guardrails to minimize AI hallucinations. You'll steer multi-turn conversations with AI, extract data insights, and execute professional-grade research reports... and leave with the skills to command AI with precision to become a learning and work partner.
Student AI Certification Course 2: Gemini Notebook
Google's Gemini Notebook offers students a suite of learning-centered tools to explore, create, analyze and understand class content. In this hands-on course, you'll harness the full power of Notebook to build dynamic, multi-source notebooks, create engaging audio debates, and design custom study tools like flashcards, mind maps, and interactive data tables. You'll dive into AI ethics, evaluate potential hallucinations, and examine AI's capabilities against real-world problems and future scenarios. By critically evaluating AI-generated reports, slide decks, and studio creations, you'll develop the critical analysis skills needed to lead in an AI-infused world at UH and in your career.
Student AI Certification Course 3: Gems, Agents, and AI at Work
Let's begin with a question... are you ready to step into the future where AI doesn't just answer questions, but autonomously executes tasks on your behalf? In this final course of the series, you’ll master agentic AI by building custom Google Gems and designing agent workflows in Google Workspace Studio. You will explore real-world workplace applications, harness the perception-reasoning-action loop, and automate tasks ranging from study schedules to administrative workflows. AI Basics for Instructors
This course provides instructors with an overview of Artificial Intelligence and its use in the classroom and beyond. This self-guided course allows instructors to learn at their own pace. Tools are provided to encourage experimenting with writing prompts, image generation, and incorporating AI content within instructors' own courses. Topics include a human-centered focus, technical and creative AI competence, AI integrated pedagogy, and professional and organizational growth.

UH AI Community
The AI User group meets monthly on Microsoft TEAMS to discuss current topics and learn how instructors and others are using AI for educational purposes. The AI User TEAM houses shared articles, as well as ongoing chats about various topics in the exciting field of artificial intelligence.

Shasta Chatbot
Shasta, UH’s AI chatbot that provides around-the-clock support to students and visitors, and also helps departments answer common questions while broadening their reach without increasing staff workload.

AI Literacy and Education
To support informed and ethical use of AI, AI Solutions is developing a literacy program targeted at four core audiences: students, faculty, staff, and researchers. The program will focus on foundational knowledge and responsible use.
