AI Learning

AI Basics for Instructors
This course provides instructors with an overview of Artificial Intelligence and its use in the classroom and beyond. This self-guided course allows instructors to learn at their own pace. Tools are provided to encourage experimenting with writing prompts, image generation, and incorporating AI content within instructors' own courses.

AI Basics for Students
This course is an introduction to the world of Artificial Intelligence. Students can explore the course content at their own pace, try out AI tools, and learn how AI might support their studies and career. A major focus of this course is learning to create prompts to generate the results being sought.
UH AI Community
The AI User group meets monthly on Microsoft TEAMS to discuss current topics and learn how instructors and others are using AI for educational purposes. The AI User TEAM houses shared articles, as well as ongoing chats about various topics in the exciting field of artificial intelligence.

AI Solutions promotes the responsible use of artificial intelligence across UH by helping departments evaluate, implement, and manage AI tools. The team focuses on practical applications that align with university goals and values.

- Collaborates with the AI Solutions Flex Team—subject matter experts who lend their knowledge to campus-wide AI efforts
- Piloting Microsoft Copilot with stakeholders in the UH community
The team manages initiatives that apply AI to improve service delivery and efficiency with a focus on tools that are accessible, scalable, and aligned with institutional goals.
Shasta Chatbot
Shasta, UH’s AI chatbot that provides around-the-clock support to students and visitors, and also helps departments answer common questions while broadening their reach without increasing staff workload.

- Offers consistent, immediate answers to common questions across Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, and more
- Provides personalized responses by leveraging data from 3rd party systems when users log in with CougarNet credentials

- Delivers insights to help identify student needs and improve messaging

AI Literacy and Education
To support informed and ethical use of AI, AI Solutions is developing a literacy program targeted at four core audiences: students, faculty, staff, and researchers. The program will focus on foundational knowledge and responsible use.
