Expect Traffic Delays on Campus During Mayor's Back to School Fest


Students, faculty and staff should expect significant traffic delays on campus on Saturday, Aug. 16, during the fourth annual Mayor's Back to School Fest.

The event is being hosted once again by the University of Houston at the Athletics/Alumni Center and Hofheinz Pavilion from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Traffic delays should be expected on Cullen Boulevard, Elgin Street, Scott Street, Holman Street and Spur 5. Patrons who attend the event will be parking on the surface lots in the area around the Athletics/Alumni Center.

Cullen between Holman and Elgin is expected to have a heavy amount of vehicles.

Members of the UH community will who need to park near the Athletics/Alumni Center and Hofheinz Pavilion on Saturday should adjust their travel times to compensate for potential delays, or park in an alternative location.

During the event, 25,000 elementary school students who live in the city of Houston and whose families pre-registered will receive backpacks, school supplies, immunizations, health screenings and hair cut vouchers.
