Staff Council Scholarship Fund

Staff Council is pleased to announce we will be awarding FY2019 scholarships for the Rodger Peters Staff Scholarship, B. Renae Milton Students of Staff Scholarship, Staff Council Scholarship and Women and Gender Resource Center Scholarship. These scholarships are made possible by the continuous support from the President's Office and fellow staff members. You can pledge to the scholarship funds directly online by visiting UH Gives Back or thru payroll deduction by submitting the Faculty/Staff Donation form.

Get Involved as a Non-Member

Staff members can choose to get involved in Staff Council activities by volunteering their time and expertise serving on one of our committees or at an annual event. Check out the Staff Council Committees page to read about volunteer opportunities and to contact committee co-chairs.

Staff Council monthly general meetings are open to the public, so anyone can attend and voice their concerns about areas being impacted across campus. Meeting dates, times, and locations can be found on the Staff Council Calendar.

Spring Egg Hunt

Thank you to everyone that came out and made this event a huge success!

Staff Council's YouTube Channel & Twitter Account

Staff Council organizes and hosts over a dozen events every year and we know that not everyone can attend all of them. We have been live streaming the events that most affect UH staff, e.g. Staff Focus and Conversations with Staff. This YouTube Channel gives you a single destination to watch events live, review past discussions, and see how involved the UH Staff Council is on campus.

We are also introducing the UH Staff Council Twitter account. While this monthly newsletter is meant to serve as a highlight of staff-related events and news, it is not as timely as social media. Any modern mobile phone capable of sending or recieving a text message can interact on Twitter and it allows the Staff Council a quick means of mass communication that does not require a smart phone, a computer, or an app.

How to sign up for a new Twitter account via SMS:

  • Send a text message with the word START to your Twitter short code (40404 if you're in the US).
  • Twitter will send you a reply and ask you to reply back with your full name to sign up.
  • Twitter will then send a message back to you and assign you a username based on your full name.
  • Now you can send a text message and it will post as a Tweet.

After you have a Twitter account, you can follow us by:

  • Send a text with the words Follow [username] in an SMS (text message) to Twitter to start following someone from your mobile phone. For example, text Follow jymminie to your Twitter short or long code.
  • You will receive a confirmation text letting you know you are now following that account.

If you have any questions, please contact the Staff Council Communications co-chairs or send a direct message via Twitter to @UHstaffcouncil.
