F-1 student

SEVP COVID-19 guidance expires following the summer 2023 semester. F-1 students must adhere to SEVP's existing regulations regarding online learning (F-1 students may take online courses, but only one online or distance learning class can be counted toward a full course of study during each term or semester), found at 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(f)(6). Please see the Maintaining F-1 Status information on our website. Hyflex courses are counted as online.

J-1 student

J-1 students must carry the full course load each semester and may engage in a maximum of one online course per semester. Further, J-1 students may take in-person classes with virtual components. Hybrid classes that predominantly require in-person student attendance could be considered in-person courses. Please see the Maintaining J-1 Student Status information on our website.
