We Help Create Better Learning Environments

Founded in the fall of 2003, CLASS Instructional Design & Technology connects the best at UH College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences to create learning environments where students succeed. Specifically, we partner with instructors and departments on pedagogy, technology and assessment to advance excellence in teaching and learning in face-to-face, online and hybrid environments.

We do this in two ways:

We build connections with and among instructors as individuals and in groups, understanding that relationships, evidence, and solutions are the vehicles by which teaching and learning are advanced. Our staff members’ deep backgrounds in pedagogy, instructional design, technology and assessment allow us to bring the most effective tools and research into these conversations.
Effective instruction begins with the understanding that there is no one “right” way to teach. Every learner is different, and the best instruction strives to personalize the learning experience as much as possible. Personalized learning can take many forms: from students working together so they can advance one-another’s thinking, to online learning systems designed to anticipate misconceptions and deliver targeted feedback exactly when a student needs it. Regardless of its surface features, high-quality instruction is learning centered.
