Dr. Linda Davis

Dr. Davis is Director of Educational Technology for the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Governors State University. Her doctorate in Instructional Technology and Distance Education is from Nova Southeastern University. Prior to joining the Dean’s office, she served as Director of Staff Development and Instructional Technology Facilitator for Kirby School District in Illinois and taught online courses for University of Northern Iowa.


Fang Fang, Instructional Designer

Ms. Fang Fang received her Master of Science degree from Indiana University in 2005. Before joining the University of Houston, she worked for Indiana University 2005 – 2007 and Kenyon College 2007 – 2011 with concentrations on web-based learning environment design, graphic and multimedia support, course management systems applications, podcasting, and new pedagogical tools research.

Thanh Tran, Instructional Designer

Thanh Tran received her Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Houston in 2014. She was a K-12 teacher before joining CLASS Office of Educational Technology. Her professional interests include educational technology, literacy education, and English language education.

Dr. Sunhong (Sammy) Hwang, Instructional Designer

Sunhong Hwang

Dr. Hwang joined the CLASS Instructional Design team in 2016. He got his master's degree at the University of Missouri at Columbia in 2003, and received his Ed.D degree in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Houston in 2009.  Before joining the team, he worked for the Kansas Law Enforcement training center, a branch of the University of Kansas. That is how he became familiar with the midwest rivalry between the University of Missouri and the University of Kansas. Also, he worked as a senior instructional developer for the University of Texas at the Health Science Center in Houston. During this time period, he conducted a lot of technical training and created state-wide / scorm-based elearning courses using Articulate, Storyline, Adobe Captivate, and Lectora. His professional interests include student-centered learning pedagogy, data visualization, and online course accessibility issues based upon his course authroing experiences.

Wayne Thomas, Photographer/Videographer

Wayne Thomas

Wayne Thomas is the photographer/videographer, and visual communication specialist in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences with the Instructional Design team. He received his Bachelor’s from Cleveland State University and a Master’s degree from the Scripps School of Journalism through Ohio University’s Visual Communication program. As a faculty member, he taught commercial photography at Dakota College at Bottineau.

Flor Velasquez, Web Developer

Flor joined the CLASS Web Services team in 2008. Since then, she has contributed towards the growth of the college’s online presence. She enjoys working with a variety web technologies in order to present an exceptional online experience for visitors to the college and department websites. She leverages her education with her hands-on experience creating code that ensures her clients are provided with quality web design. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston’s College of Technology.
