Teachers

UH is committed to training and supporting K-12 teachers who are uniquely capable of transferring knowledge and interest in STEM education to youth. Among the various objectives of improving STEM training for educators, math and science curriculum at the high school level should be improved to meet the standards needed for entering freshmen, as identified by UH, with the goal of eliminating the need for remedial math education after admission.

The development of America’s future teachers undergoing training at the UH College of Education will be addressed through increased technology literacy instruction through the College of Education to graduating student teachers. Such instruction will provide undergraduate teaching students with an improved working knowledge of the world’s technology, so that they can more effectively integrate math and science into their classrooms. Also, school career counselors will be provided appropriate career advising information related to STEM careers.

Resources

Innovative ways of engaging students is key to generating interest in the pursuit of a career in a STEM field.
