New Online Features Help Measure UH’s Progress

By-the-Numbers Enhanced with Two New Tools

By Mike Emery, 713-743-7197

Student Success and improved graduation rates play integral roles in the University of Houston’s strategic plan and its goal to be ranked among U.S. News and World Report’s Top 50 National Public Universities.

In support of these efforts, the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness expanded the University’s online resource, By-the-Numbers, with a study of students’ Major Changes illustrating how students move through majors during their first six years at UH. The tool allows users to compare change patterns within colleges, departments, and plans.

Another new feature added to By-the-Numbers is an analysis of U.S. News and World Report’s Best Colleges rankings data. This new feature includes an overview of how we rank among national public universities, a comparison of UH’s overall and detailed progress over time, and a one-page summary of the key metrics allowing users quick comparisons of UH’s progress to other institutions.

Both Major Changes and rankings data require Cougarnet log-in credentials. For publicly available institutional data, please visit the Institutional Research website.
