UHCOP Launches PharMentor Program for Student, Practitioner Connections
In order to help current UHCOP Pharm.D. students in their professional development and career networking, the office of UHCOP Student Services has created the PharMentor Program. For this program, we will be compiling a Pharmacy Mentor database of contact and career information from our alumni, preceptors and friends with the intent of making it available to current UHCOP students via the Blackboard Learn site (an internal, password-protected database), for students to seek guidance and mentorship in their chosen area of practice.
The PharMentor program will be a student-driven program based upon career focus areas. Your level of involvement/availability can vary as you are able, but if you are interested in being a PharMentor to UHCOP students, please complete the form at https://tinyurl.com/uhcop-mentor-register.
We would also like to ask that you provide a photo via email to Paige Pitman, assistant dean of Professional & Students Services.
Dean’s Advisory Council
Comprising volunteer alumni and friends of the college, the Dean's Advisory Council provides advice to the dean regarding pharmacy education and alumni relations and supports the college's marketing and fundraising programs. Members of DAC represent a range of specialities and fields within and outside of the pharmacy profession, including ambulatory and acute-care pharmacy, wholesalers, chain drug stores, law, alternative medicine and the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.
The full council typically meets twice each year (spring and fall), with committee meetings and/or workshops scheduled as needed. Each member serves a term of term of three years for up two consecutive terms. For more information about serving on the DAC, please contact Mary Reed at 713-743-1252.
One of the most rewarding activities for UHCOP alumni is serving as a preceptor for future pharmacists and fellow alumni. For information on becoming a preceptor, visit the Texas State Board of Pharmacy website or send an email to the Experiential Programs Office at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Alumni and friends of the college are appointed by the Dean to serve on admissions, curriculum, advisory, and search committees. Committee members play an integral role in the future of the college by participating in these activities. If you have questions about serving on a committee, please contact Mary Reed at 713-743-1252.
