Dr. Esmeralda Valdez

Esmeralda Valdez, Ph.D., C.A.S.P., is an experienced professional in higher education with over 30 years of experience. Dr. Valdez serves as Executive Director for University Services. In this role, she is responsible for the strategic direction and management of various campus service departments, including printing and mail services, campus card services, business operations, and performance center operations.

Dr. Valdez is an active member of the National Association of College Auxiliary Services Board of Directors and the National Association of College Auxiliary Services South Board of Directors as the South region representative. She also chairs the National Association of College Auxiliary Services Communication Services Committee. She has served on the Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education State Board of Directors as the Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education Gulf Coast Representative and served as the chair of the Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education Career and Leadership Development Institute.

Dr. Valdez was awarded the National Association of College Auxiliary Services Volunteer of the Year in 2022, the David H. Lord Scholarship for Community Service Award and the National Association of College Auxiliary Services South Regional Mentor Award in 2020, and the Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education Distinguished University Staff Award in 2018. She was also awarded the National Association of College Auxiliary Services Mereese Ladson Scholarship. In 2019, she was an inaugural Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education Career and Leadership Development Institute fellow.

Dr. Valdez is a Certified Auxiliary Services Professional (C.A.S.P.) and holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Education Leadership and Policy Studies and a Master’s in Education-Administration from the University of Houston.
