#ParksByYou Day 2024
Saturday, February 24, 2024
9:00 am - 12:00 pm
White Oak Bayou Greenway is home to a scenic detention basin, hundreds of acres of grasslands, forest, and wetlands designed for flood control. With your help, Houston Parks Board is transforming White Oak Bayou with hike-and-bike trails connecting surrounding communities to parks and nature.
Volunteers will be divided into groups and work with Conservation staff on-site, to plant native forbs (herbaceous flowering plants) and grasses at W.11th Street and T.C. Jester Blvd on Saturday, February 24th.
Houston Parks Board will provide tools, gloves, and other equipment needed. Please come in weather-appropriate clothing as well as close-toed shoes that you don’t mind getting a little dirty.
Volunteers will meet at SC South at 1:10 PM, depart at 1:20 PM and arrive at the event site at 1:50 PM, and volunteer until 4:00 PM. Please indicate on the signup form if you can provide carpooling- we always need volunteer drivers! After the event, volunteers will return to campus and be back by 4:30 PM.
You’ll receive a confirmation and reminder email prior to the event containing more information! To sign up, complete the Google Form and sign the waiver with Houston Parks Board. Spots will be limited, waiver must be signed to secure your spot.
