Center For Urban Transformation
Saturday, April 15, 2023
9:00 am - 12:00 pm
The center for urban transformation’s goal is to assess and resolve issues that could hinder academic success/social growth for students, in a timely and culturally sensitive manner. The communities that they serve experience various issues that may hinder scholars from achieving their academic best. These problems include, but are not limited to basic clothing needs, food insecurity, physical and mental health, lack of stable housing, and many other psychological and domestic concerns. Often, these challenges negatively influence students and their ability to immerse themselves in a learning environment efficiently.
Volunteers for this event will be assisting in their after school program where they will help with tutoring exercises for the STAAR Exam. Those that need carpooling will meet at the Student Center South Circle Drive at 8:40 am on April 15th. We will then proceed to carpool at 8:45 am. We will return to campus at 12:00 pm. The address for the event is 4801 Providence St, Houston, TX 77020.
The dress code is casual. The only strong recommendation is to wear comfortable shoes that you can be active in. Most volunteers wear t-shirts, and jeans, leggings, or shorts. Shorts are to be no shorter than two inches above the knee.
Please register by 04/10/23 by 11:59PM. To register, complete the Google Form and we will contact you with more information about the event.
