Join us for Cesar Chavez Day of Service: a morning of service in support of the Houston Community! Connect with new friends, learn more about Houston, and make a positive impact in the community. Breakfast, a t-shirt, and materials required for service projects will be provided for all volunteers. With one on campus location and one off campus location.

Nora’s Home House Cleaning
Nora’s Home offers solid organ transplant patients and their families an affordable place to stay in the Texas Medical Center (TMC) where they can find support and share experiences with others, in the comfort of a home-like environment. Join MVP in cleaning up around the clinic!
Also important to note: It is required to wear a mask and to social distance to protect their transplant populations

Senior Painting Session
The Metropolitan Volunteer Program will be facilitating a painting night for seniors at the Third Ward Multi Service Center. We will also be hosting an informational session on healthcare for seniors to listen to while they paint. Volunteers will be needed from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm on Monday, April 1st.

Nora’s Home: Sunflower Sacks
Nora’s Home offers solid organ transplant patients and their families an affordable place to stay in the Texas Medical Center (TMC) where they can find support and share experiences with others, in the comfort of a home-like environment. Its guests often spend long days at the clinic and miss meals — Sunflower Sacks help provide an easy snack for guests to bring with them to long clinic visits and enjoy! Decorate some bags, fill them with snacks, and we’ll drop them off at the home. All supplies will be provided and volunteers can come any time on Tuesday, 04/02, from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm at Impact (SC North)

Pawesome Pup Blankets
The Houston Humane Society is an organization that focuses on taking care of animals (dogs and cats and everything in between!) from all around the Houston area. To help in their cause we’re making dog blankets to go into care packages for the pups.
Volunteers can make dog blankets to donate to dogs in need or come by to donate blankets (no stuffed blankets or pillows).

Grissom Elementary Reading
Grissom Elementary is an elementary school in the Houston Independent School District.
We will be going to elementary classrooms and reading to the children. Volunteers will be needed from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm on Friday, April 5th.

Adopt-a-Beach
On Saturday, April 6th, volunteers will be volunteering with the Adopt-A-Beach organization in their efforts of maintaining and cleaning coastal beaches. We will be going to Galveston Beach, transportation and lunch will be provided!

Walk MS
Walk MS brings together passionate people from communities across the country to change the world for people affected by multiple sclerosis. Together, we drive progress to achieve our vision of a world free of MS. To date, Walk MS participants, volunteers and donors have raised over $1 billion to stop MS in its tracks, restore what’s been lost and end MS forever. Join MVP at this year’s Walk MS at our very own University of Houston campus.

Volunteer with the Native Plant Nursery
Volunteers participate in a wide variety of activities that are assigned based on park workload demands. Some examples of tasks can include weeding, mulching, litter pick up, pruning and more. Volunteers can expect to work hard outside, learn about the history of the park/local ecosystem, and hopefully have fun!
