The FemTech(+) Innovation Challenge

The FemTech (+) Innovation Challenge was a weekend-long event that challenged students at the University of Houston to spend three days creating female-focused business ideas or products/services that solve problems for women. On Friday, students learned more about areas that are ripe for innovation from a panel of women involved with female-focused businesses. After learning more, students brainstormed ideas, pick the top ideas and form teams. Saturday morning teams will do customer discovery, and have a keynote speaker lunch and learn. The lunch was be followed by mentor sessions with entrepreneurs in the Houston community, and mentorship continued into Sunday morning. A pitch competition was held Sunday afternoon, judged by local entrepreneurs and investors. The top team received $3,000!

This FemTech (+) Innovation Challenge was an opportunity to learn more about an area of need, meet mentors and community members, and students to get support and resources to develop an entrepreneurial mindset.

The event was featured in the Houston Chronicle. Check out the video of the final presentations and the slides for the final presentations.
