The FemTech(+) Innovation Challenge

The FemTech (+) Innovation Challenge is a yearly challenge for students at the University of Houston to create female-focused business ideas or products/services that solve problems for women. At the start of the program, students learn more about areas that are ripe for innovation from a panel of women involved with female-focused businesses. After learning more, students brainstorm ideas, pick the top ideas and form teams. Throughout the challenge, teams do customer discovery and mentor sessions with entrepreneurs in the Houston community to get feedbck on their ideas. The challenge culminates with a pitch competition judged by entrepreneurs and investors in the femtech space. Top teams receive cash stipends and additional mentorship.

This FemTech (+) Innovation Challenge is an opportunity to learn more about an area of need, meet mentors and community members, and for students to get support and resources to develop an entrepreneurial mindset.

The event was featured in the Houston Chronicle. Check out the 2019 video of the final presentations and the 2020 virtual pitch competition
