UH Closed Through Friday, Feb. 28, 2020

The University of Houston will remain closed through Friday, Feb. 28, 2020, due to the City of Houston’s water main break, uncertain timeline for repair, and the Boil Water Notice issued by the City to include the UH campus. All University activities are cancelled with the exception of Cougar Baseball at 6:30pm. Essential accommodations including bottled water, toilets and limited food service are being provided to students who live in UH Student Housing including Bayou Oaks, Cambridge Oaks and Cullen Oaks. Friday’s closure does not apply to UH at Katy or UH at Sugar Land.

Under the City’s Boil Water Notice, residents are advised not to drink tap water without bringing it to a rolling boil for at least 2 minutes and letting it cool before use. The duration of the notice is unclear at this time. More information on the City’s Boil Water Notice can be found here: https://houstonemergency.org/wp-content/uploads/Boil-Water-FAQ_2020.pdf. Once water is restored to campus, it may take several hours to properly flush the system and restore service.

The University will provide updates on this developing situation and will advise about operational status for Saturday as information becomes available Friday. Updates can be found at www.uh.edu/emergency.
