Elysia Huereca serves as the Sexual Misconduct Support Services Program Manager, where she is dedicated to supporting students impacted by sexual misconduct with compassion, professionalism, and care. In this role, she plays a critical part in ensuring students have access to confidential resources, clear information, and advocacy throughout what can often be an overwhelming time. Elysia also contributes to prevention and education efforts aimed at fostering a safe, respectful, and supportive campus environment.
Elysia works closely with students to provide individualized support, helping them understand their options while honoring their autonomy and decision making. She prioritizes a trauma informed, student centered approach, recognizing the importance of safety, dignity, and trust in every interaction. Her work supports students as they navigate institutional processes while maintaining a focus on their overall well‑being and academic continuity.
Elysia pursued her academic studies with a strong interest in understanding human behavior and emotional well-being. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Oakland University, where she developed a foundation in psychological theory, trauma awareness, and human development. Her education strengthened her ability to approach sensitive situations thoughtfully and ethically, reinforcing her passion for working directly with individuals who require clarity, understanding, and support.
Prior to joining UH, Elysia served as an advocate for survivors of domestic and sexual violence, playing a vital role in stabilizing, supporting, and empowering individuals impacted by trauma. Through compassionate, active listening, she created spaces where survivors felt believed, safe, and empowered to determine their own paths forward. This work reinforced her belief that survivors are the experts of their own lives. Her role was never to rescue, but to walk alongside survivors offering information, advocacy, and consistent support as they worked to reclaim safety, purpose, and healing.
Throughout her career, Elysia has been recognized for her professional presence and supportive approach grounded in accountability, compassion, and clarity. Her work emphasizes not only compliance, but also the human impact of purpose, resilience, and a deep commitment to others. Outside of work, Elysia enjoys reading and writing, maintaining an active lifestyle through fitness, and spending meaningful time with loved ones while creating lasting memories.
