Brandon Washington serves as the Assistant Dean of Students at the University of Houston, where he is passionate about helping students navigate challenges, access support, and thrive both inside and outside the classroom. He leads student conduct, case management, and behavioral intervention efforts within the Dean of Students Office and oversees the Sexual Misconduct Support Services (SMSS) Program, ensuring students impacted by sexual misconduct receive trauma-informed advocacy, coordinated care, and comprehensive support.
Originally from Hartsville, South Carolina, Brandon’s journey has always been rooted in service and community. A graduate of Hartsville High School, he went on to serve more than 20 years in the United States Army, retiring as a Master Sergeant after a career defined by leadership, advocacy, and mentorship. His military service took him around the world and shaped his people-first approach to leadership.
Most recently, Brandon served as a Brigade Sexual Assault Response Coordinator (SARC), where he directed prevention education, crisis response, and victim advocacy programs supporting thousands of Soldiers, civilians, and family members. He supervised and mentored a team of advocates, collaborated with law enforcement and medical professionals, and provided around-the-clock support to individuals during some of their most difficult moments. Known as a trusted advisor and steady presence, he built programs grounded in dignity, accountability, and care—values he now brings to his work with students at UH.
Throughout his career, Brandon has been recognized for his calm leadership style, ability to connect with people from all backgrounds, and dedication to developing others. Whether guiding students through conduct processes, supporting those in crisis, or leading prevention education initiatives, he approaches every interaction with empathy and respect.
Brandon holds a Master of Arts in Human Resource Management and a Bachelor of Arts in General Management. Outside of work, he enjoys staying active through fitness and working out, and he values spending quality time traveling with his family and creating new experiences together.
