Project Description

In today's digital age, the transportation sector has become increasingly reliant on technology, creating vulnerabilities that can be exploited by cybercriminals. To address these threats, we propose organizing a Transportation Cyber Resilience Competition. The motivation behind this competition is to foster innovation, awareness, and expertise in the field of transportation cybersecurity. By providing a platform for participants to tackle real-world challenges, we aim to inspire a new generation of cybersecurity professionals dedicated to safeguarding critical transportation systems.

The transportation sector is facing a growing threat from cyberattacks, including those targeting autonomous vehicles, traffic management systems, and transportation infrastructure. These attacks can disrupt operations, compromise passenger safety, and have far-reaching economic consequences. The problem at hand is the need for robust cybersecurity solutions to protect transportation systems from these evolving threats. The competition will serve as a platform to identify, address, and mitigate these vulnerabilities, ultimately enhancing the security of transportation networks.

The Transportation Cybersecurity Competition is primarily designed to have a profound educational impact. Participants will have the opportunity to apply their cybersecurity knowledge and skills in a competitive and practical setting. Through hands-on challenges and real-world scenarios, participants will gain valuable experience in identifying, addressing, and mitigating cybersecurity threats specific to the transportation sector. This educational approach will not only enhance their technical expertise but also foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork abilities. As a result of their participation, we expect students and aspiring cybersecurity professionals to develop a deep understanding of the challenges faced by the transportation industry in securing critical systems. This experience will empower them to make meaningful contributions to the field and serve as a talent pipeline for the industry.
